How does a self-locking ball lock work?

The self-locking ball lock is sometimes called a 'ball bearing lock'. When open, the small ball that is integrated into the locking head of the steel cable tie can move freely. When in use, the tie end is inserted and fed through. When the zip tie is tightened, the small ball springs back and wedges itself inside the cable tie head, thereby securely locking the stainless steel cable tie.
