Characteristics of Ty-Rap® cable ties with metal tongue lock

The Ty-Rap® cable ties in our assortment are bipartite cable ties. That means they are made of two materials. The tail, strap and head are made of polyamide 6.6 (nylon), and the locking barb inside the metal tongue lock is made of corrosion-resistant, antimagnetic stainless steel.

Principle: Metal tongue cable ties are also known as cable ties with a metal barb. When tightening the cable tie, this steel tongue digs deep into the plastic and the cable tie can not be opened again. Thanks to this special lock, the Ty-Rap® metal tongue cable ties can be adjusted smoothly.

Shape: With its rounded head, this type of zip tie does not have any sharp edges. This minimises the wear and tear of cables and surfaces of other bundled items and prevents cuts on the installer’s hands. The shape of the head also makes it easier to route cable bundles through tight spaces or partitions.

How does Ty-Rap® technology work?

Thanks to the Ty-Rap® technology, the lock of the cable tie does not open, even with strong vibrations or movements. Since the steel tongue buries itself into the plastic, an unintentional opening is not possible. The locking mechanism will hold tight even in twisted positions. The strap of the Ty-Rap® cable ties has small nubs on the surface that provide additional grip on the bundled cable harnesses.
